SCP Launched at Ssembabule Magistrates Court

SSEMBABULE: Jubilation and ululation filled the air at Ssembabule Chief Magistrate's Court at the launch of Small Claims Procedure (SCP).
The launch was presided over by the Ssembabule Resident District Commissioner, Mr.Nixon Kabuye, who referred to the fast access to justice initiative as a"magic bullet".
"Small Claims Procedure is affordable and judgment is quick," he said.
He urged the residents of Ssembabule to ensure that they write agreements to ease court work especially where disputes arise.
The Ag. Assistant Registrar in charge of SCP, HW Lillian Bucyana, said Ssembabule was the 59th SCP gazetted court. "We are not stopping here but going toexpand SCP to other courts in Uganda," she added.
The Ssembabule Magistrate Grade I, HW Morris Oburu, said the court operates an open door policy and was ready to serve all court users.
The Chief Magistrate HW Deo Sejjemba, the DSO, Lt. Mugabe Robert, and the District Police Commander, DPC Denis Musinguzi as well as other civic leaders in the district,witnessed the launch.
